District Announcements
NEW School Safety Measure
Beginning Tuesday, April 7th, Western School District will be implementing additional security measures to our schools to reinforce the safety of our students and your children. Each building is equipped with a secured access system at the front door. Once the students have arrived in the morning, the exterior doors will be locked and visitors will need to press the intercom button to request access to the building. We realize this will take some getting used to and may be inconvenient, but it is being done in the best interest of student and staff safety, which is our priority.  Thank  you in advance for your understanding and patience as we implement this new procedure.

M-Step Parent Letter from MDE
This spring students in grades 3-8 and 11 will be participating in a new State of Michigan assessment.  The new test M-Step (Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress) takes the place of MEAP.  Please see the attached letter from State Superintendent Mike Flanagan for more information.

Balanced Calendar Update 3-23-15
After much discussion between the superintendents from all the public schools in Jackson County, the superintendents have made a few decisions regarding the concept of a "balanced calendar".  Please read the attached press release that will be distributed to mLive/Cit Pat soon. /modules/groups/homepagefiles/cms/1410339/File/3-23-15%20Press%20Release(1).pdf
